Philanthropy

Every chapter of Alpha Phi is united by a single goal when it comes to philanthropy. For all of the ladies of Alpha Phi, Cardiac Care is a philanthropic organization that means so much to us. In the Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi, we raise money while also having fun and spreading awareness to the U of A. As heart disease is the number one killer of women in America, the ladies of Alpha Phi sincerely take this cause to heart. An elected Director of Philanthropy involves Alpha Phi members and the entire U of A campus in four major philanthropy events. These events raise money for Cardiac Care through the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Mr. Alpha Phi"s

He's smart…. He's charming…. He's Mr. Alpha Phi. Every year an upstanding group of fraternity gentlemen compete for the chance to be crowned Mr. Alpha Phi. Not only is this lucky man given the title of Mr. Alpha Phi, but he is also crowned Alpha Phi's King of Hearts to honor our philanthropy, Women's Heart Health. This pageant is one of the most anticipated events on campus all year! Swimwear, q and a, pick up line, evening wear, and talent competitions make for an entertaining night. Mr. Alpha Phi always receives a huge turnout from sororities, fraternities, and the U of A student body. This philanthropic event is fun for all and raises money as well as spreads awareness.

Red Dress Gala

"The dress is to die for, the cause is to live for." When it comes to the style of an Alpha Phi, it's all about the red dress! The annual Red Dress Gala is hosted by the Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi during family weekend at the U of A and includes a reception, dinner, and silent auction at an elegant venue. All Alpha Phis wear red dresses in honor of our cause. 100% of proceeds from this event are donated to Women's Heart Health in hopes of advancing research and fighting heart disease. For us, this special occasion allows us to share our philanthropic vision with family and friends while dressed in red.

Sweethearts Week

Every year, Alpha Phi celebrates Valentines with a week of philanthropy called Sweethearts Week. Several events are planned to raise awareness for Cardiac Care. On one day, the Alpha Phi house is opened to the entire campus for a heart healthy luncheon and information regarding the prevention of heart disease. Fundraising events differ every year, but always manage to raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation. Invitations to Sweetheart events and baskets of dark chocolate are distributed to each Greek organization at the U of A. Past events have included aerobics classes at the house, the heart healthy lunch, deliveries of Phi Bears to children's hospitals, and many others.
